Meet Your Doula

Blythe is a certified Holistic Labor Companion/Doula. She has been working as a doula since 2011 and a homebirth assistant since 2018. She is a mother to three children. Two grown and flown and one still in highschool. She has been married to her husband Roy since 2001 and he is her biggest cheerleader. She was a homeschooling mama and involved in teaching at her local homeschool coop. Passions include birth, travel, music, movies, and all that the great outdoors has to offer. When she is not singing in the shower or interpretive dancing around the house she uses her gifts of wisdom and compassion to pour into the lives of the women around her. Blythe is located in Valparaiso, IN. 

The picture to the right is the birth of my first child in 2001. I had no idea how life changing that event was going to be. I found a strength within myself that I didn't know I possessed. I knew in that moment that I wanted to help others find their strength. I knew I was going to be a birth worker. 

I listened to other women's stories of their births and they were so different from mine. They came away from their birth feeling violated, demeaned, and unheard. "This has to change!" I thought. The best way that I could help women find their strength was through being a doula. Teaching and educating families about birth and helping them to find a birth journey that was a right fit for them. 

Whether you have a hospital birth or a home birth or a natural birth or a medicated birth the choice needs to belong to you. An empowering birth is one in which the mother is listened to and her choices are respected. When you know your options, risks, and benefits you feel good about your decision and not forced into anything. That is why I do what I do. That is how the passion was birthed.

• Certified Holistic Labor Companion 2011 . Certified through The Naturopathic Institute of Therapies and Education located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Certification is 400 hours of study and internship.
